Fine Men of Medicine: Meet Momo, Class of 2019

Mohamed is a medical student studying at Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. His passion for medicine began with his debut to watching medical dramas, such as House, M.D., where he thought, “I can do that.” Mohamed grew up in Rochester, MN—also known as Mayo Clinic, MN—before moving to Minneapolis to complete his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota. In order to differentiate himself from the competitive pool of medical school applicants, he decided to major in two unique fields during his time at the University of Minnesota, those being Biochemistry and Genetics. Although Mohamed lived half his life in the frozen tundras of Minnesota, he spent most of his childhood overseas in Muscat, Oman. He was born in the heat, molded by it. He didn't feel the cold until he was already an adolescent; by then, it was nothing to him but an introduction to the importance of lotion. Ashiness is a serious concern around these parts. Mohamed’s most notable achievements include discovering how to grow his own dreadlocks and learning how to remain carefree in a high stress environment—both speak to his wonderful, yet neglectful demeanor. He remains adamant on avoiding the use of planners and schedules despite the chaotic schedule of medical school. Mohamed enjoys conversing and being in the company of friends and family, regardless of the setting. He likes to occasionally disrupt his friends from studying while pretending to study along with them. Moreover, he has a strong passion for soccer and enjoys escaping reality by watching and playing the sport. All in all, Mohamed is a paradoxical individual hell-bent on earning his M.D. and a degree in Public Health so he can one day become a viable candidate for Surgeon General of the United States in the future administration of one of his closest friends and allies, some random dude none of us know from his hometown.

Fine Men of Medicine is a short article with a picture and autobiography of one fine man of our school. Each issue will feature a new fine man, complete with an autobiography of that man.
